It is a DTM connector, so you dont really need special tools. Small pliers to remove the orange lock. Small flat screwdriver to lift the tab for each pin. Are you positive the connector cannot go in the other way? I will have to grab a harness and have a look if this is a one-off or an issue.

There are so many things this could be you really need to get it to a tuner. It can only rev high because there is too much air, so there will be an issue with the setup of the idle control system, either wiring or setup.
