a/c idling problem

Postby ayil » Mon Jul 30, 2007 3:36 am

I'm running an e6k on a 4g63t. using the standard stepper motor. can get to idle perfectly w/o the a/c. but when the a/c is switched on the idle rpm starts to hunt from 1000rpm then drops to about 800 before the stepper catches it and brings it up to 1200. its really annoying. any thoughts?

i think you may need to over look this, or buy an e8 / e11v2 unit.

well generally more timing will increase the idle RPM, less timing will decrease the RPM ! No secrets there - exploit this to stabilise your idle !

idiling with AC

Postby crispeed » Fri Aug 31, 2007 10:43 pm

Also verify that the adjacent load bars/points next to the idle ones are not to rich or lean because they will cause the idle to surge also before the idle motor can compensate. The E6K does a very good job of controlling idle when Stepper Motors are used. I always have great results with stepper motors even when the AC or any type of load are placed on the motor at idle.

Hey Cris, care to share some general tips on Stepper Motor Idle control with E6K/X? Like aproximate values to try, or how to go about setting it right?
