If there is something wrong with it, the solution is always " MORE HORSEPOWER"

Sure its a good price, specially if the harness is in good shape and its got all its sensors.

Is that a v6 or a v8? does it use a distributor or multicoils?

Also, what kind of crank/cam trigger does that engine use?

Here is my version of an E6 series comparison.

Features vary, and software is DOS for the S and K, and windows for the X, but generally the ins and outs are the same, in the S you had to move some dip switches around to make adjustments for different triggers and gain settings had to be adjusted through jumpers inside the board, but with the K and X all that is done through the software.

If anybody has more questions on the comparison post them.

Now, you have it wrong, the difference is that with the K harness, the main differences are the trigger wires, if you look at the chart, in the K harness the main trigger and home trigger signal wires are the same, but the main trigger ground and home trigger ground are not, so, what happens is this, you can use the X ECU with the K harness, but you need to have the trigger and home signals as hall effect so that they only go to pins 6 and 12. The 2 grounds for the trigger and home wires were spliced with pin 26 in the X, which is the main ground.

Also, Ign4 on the X harness is where the home trigger ground wire used to be on the K, but since you are using only Ign1 for your application, that wont be a problem.

Finally, pin 7, the power input in the X, you could open up the connector and splice pin 13, to that one, since i dont know the effects of not having power to pin 7.

Overall, its not really that complicated, since you will have to do these changes in order to use the K harness.

Or, worst case scenario, you have to swap it out for an X harness, the good part is that you dont have to reinstall any sensors, you will be using the ones you already have.

What will you do with your old K? sell it? email me with pics of it.

E6k problems- Can anyone help?

I' tearing out what little hair I have left. Can anyone help? I have a twin plug Porsche engine that worked well previously with a stock twin plug Porsche distibutor. We had an ignition problem that burned the coils- ? short so we decided to go to an electromotive coil system. We now have it on the dyno but can't seem to program the Haltech e6k ECU. I've downloaded the e6k zip file but we get an error message stating "incorrect programer version, use later version". What is the difference between the e6k6.34 vs e6k6.34cmpq version? Is there anyway to have the ECU tested to see if somehow it is malfunctioning? The fuel injectors also aren't firing with the electromotive hal sensor- it's a falling square wave signal. The Haltech apparently isn't recognizing the electromotive signal output, however, the injectors do fire if we use the old haltech crank sensor/trigger wheel

Are you using an old lappy or new? XP or some other windows? a serial to USB adapter or straight serial from the lappy?

E6k problems

Thanks for the reply. I spoke with Matt at Haltech and got things sorted out. My e6k unit uses a later software program that isn't available as a download. We had everything set up right and the ECU checked out OK. The electromotive unit is providing the proper signal output. I expect we'll have it up and running this week on the dyno once we get the unit back from Haltec. We're using an old laptop with Dos- windows 95
