E11 ALS settings

Postby vlad_rally » Wed Apr 27, 2016 6:27 am

So, basically i was trying to set up the als on my car, and i'm having some trouble maintaining the missfires through the rpm range. I did not manage to make it work over 3000rmp... even went 40de over tdc. My last setting on my ex stand alone was +30deg, with 20% throtle, but it had spark cuts implemented an worked perfectly. How can i determine what i need for higher rpm? air, timing or fuel. Dose the extra fuel setting multiply the pw value from the fuel map ?

What are you trying to do with it?

Rally style antilag. :) Time Attack and a bit of hobby drift on a very twitchy circuit, and i'm looking for that extra response on the corner exit due to being a bit underpowered (low grip in tight slow corners), because of the low boost, and it spools up a bit slowly, because i haven't reached high efficiency yet on the turbocharger. And most of all, out of curiosity on how the Haltech works and how easy it is to be tuned, compared with other stand alones wich i work with. That's why i've mounted it on my street/track day S13 (Test car bassicly) (This is what i do for a living, mount stand alones, make mil-spec looms and mapp them).

I've set antilag systems before, and this one's a bit tricky then others, due to missing the spark cut tables during als, to help the missfires going. I've messed with it all day, and stil did not manage to make it work through the all rpm range 5000-2000. Best i had was between 2000-3000, not making boost during dcel, but almoast eliminating the spool of the turbocharger, wich is what i'm looking for, reason for going only 15-20% tps, with the small 48mm plate. That's why i'm asking, you clearly have more experience with this ecu's, and done this more times than me trying the first time.

It is a shame that your first experience with our products is with an ECU that is 10 to 15 years old. :D

There should be no real tricks to it. With enough retard and enough fuel it will fire into the exhaust, and from there you control the amount with the throttle opening. I have never had to even consider ignition cutting to initiate the firing, it should do it as soon as the retard in started.

Even with it being this old, i'm very pleased with it. :) I'm going to keep this one for my street car (this S13) I'l get a platinum i think soon to see what's it about, so i can make some offers to my future clients. Sadly here in romania, there are two classes of people...The ones wich want Motec and Pectel (race Evo's and Subaru's) and the majority, wich want the 'cheapest' stand alone for their projects.... Too bad i've allready ordered the ecu for the one i'm working on, but i have two more to bulit, so i'm thinking maybe i'l get a Haltec for the next one

For example, my offer for this JZ was 1200 eur. Wich include the Ecu, wiring loom, mounting on the car and mapping.

This is just silver plated silicone wire, to reduce the costs of the loom... no need for more in drag racing. I make looms like this for about 300$. With the tefzel wire and autosport connectors, the prices are significantly higher.

Since you saying this Matt, I just bought a Platinum 1000 :D did not need it thow, just to play with it and get familiar. I've mounted 3 Haltech ecu's since we last talked :). I'm veery pleased with them

Have you had a look at the Elite 550 and 750? These might be a good budget option for you customers.

I'm having a talk with Haltech on becoming a dealer. Because i had to order two elite 1500 ecu's all the way from you guys, because in Romania there are no more dealers. And i had to mount two motec ecu's in the past 2 weeks, instead of haltechs, because i was not able to get them on time...really want to solve this issue.. and i'm really pleased with haltecs.
