E8 no engine start

Postby Andersk » Fri Jan 06, 2017 9:54 pm

Hello, running a e8 on a 7afe corolla. All sensors are ok but backfire when trying to start. So wastespark and have spark. 315 cc injectors and have fuel. 36-2+home, 10 teeth and 35 trigger. The engine coughts but as i increase fuel it bangs throu the intake. I hqve checked ignition, locked at 10 and timing Light cheecks out. 1342 engine and i have haltech to autogenerate deg in software. Something with the ignition as it backfires, any clues?

Thanks Anders

You might have the ignition outputs back to front

Could be 360 out on the crank. Add 36 to your tooth offset.

Hello,

I`ve tried 36 tooth but no go.

And now i think the box left this world.

The mapsensor was reading 3 bar all the time so it must have added a ton of fuel. Because when i changed the mapsensor for another one it reads correct and backfire stop.

got the ignition spot on with 3 teeth 85 deg. i stopped for the day and the next day the ignition is all over the place again with the same settings. I have good rpm 220 - 340 when cranking.

So i did a firmware uppgrade to se if anything would happend and the ignition is spot on again with 3 teeth 85 deg. But now the injectors won`t turn on. I have checked the wiring and there is 12v to the injectors and the negative from the injectors to haltech is ok. I still have 12v when cranking. The ecu tells me i have injectortime.

Checked the relay and fuses and they all work.

Have the injector drive given up?

How can i tell if it is the box that have broken ?

thanks
Anders

You can send it back to be tested. But generally you would want to make sure the trigger comes through cleanly first. It is the number 1 cause for problems with an ECU installation.

I was thinking why the ignition is jumping. So i tried again after one day.

I have 3 teeth and 85 deg. The timing is locked to 10 deg btdc.
Connect the laptop to ECU and crank it without fuel. It says some 90 deg after tdc.
So i started adjusting the teeth and deg to see what the ecu thinks. And with 1 teeth and 100 deg it thinks im at 20 deg btdc.
New firmware install.
I set the timing to 3 teeth and 85 deg and now it flickers from about 20 btdc to tdc, this i can understand if the trigger system is not shielded enough but that the ECU "forgets" overnight ?

So what could cause the ECU to forget settings over one night?

So what is the cost for checking the box for trouble with you guys?

Thanks
Anders

Usually AUD$88+ for inspection.
