Unsupported Vehicle.

Postby JFRS88 » Thu Mar 10, 2011 4:06 pm

Hi all

I have a Mitsubishi 4G92 Mivec Gen 1 and am considering the interceptor as a piggy back unit.
My question is if there is no base map supplied with the interceptor for my engine how would i go about running it?

Would i have to figure out the map myself?

Thanks

THe interceptor won't work with the mivec ecu its not setup to cope with the MAP sensor setup.

If you really want to modify the vehicle best way to go is to go for a full replacement ECU, or a partial piggy back with the Sport 500 ecu

Oh i see...so it put the interceptor out of the equation. :?

I thought the sprint 500 is a stand alone ecu? I am just looking for something i can tune on the road as there is no dyno in my area. Originally i was going to go with the \sport 1000 ecu as i was considering turbo charging the mivec, but i think its going to just be to difficult to tune that type of engine without a dyno and my limited experience.

On the other hand i was thinking about jun cams with some other mods and using a piggy back as it a bit easier to tune.(but less power)

My company specialises in Mitsubishi vehicles, so I could provide you with a plug and play patch harness with a pre tune on the ecu to suit a complete stock 4G92 mivec engine.

We also sell our own custom billet camshafts with the JUN 2 profile, with valve springs and cam gears.

But I would suggest the plug and play ecu package first that way you would only need to do minor tweaks to the tune to specifically suit your vehicle

Wow thanx Mitsiman... :D

Does your company have a website?

With regards to the ecu, what type of ecu is it? Would it be possible for you to provide a plug and play patch harness and the pre tune using the haltech sport 1000 ecu?

Then maybe what i can do is install the ecu first (like you advised) and then either way i go (turbo or cam's) I can just fine tune from there. I would prefer a standalone ecu rather than a "piggy back" anyway because of the capacitor issue in the oem mitsubishi unit.

The OEM ECU's capacitors leak electrolyte all over the circuit board, eating it away and sometimes causing burning and fire on the board. Also means the capacitor's capacitance changes, so sometimes you notice your car running like crap before it does completely.

I used to repair early 90's mitsy ecu's, if you replace the capacitor before it does the damage it will be fine. About 3/4 of mitsy faulty ecu's are repairable. I would go full programmable haltech to replace these as there are not a lot of problems like immob etc.
