32x32x8 Long term fuel trim.. But with a compromise.

Postby Drwaffles » Fri Mar 08, 2019 10:51 pm

The 16x16x4 is irritating at times, curious if there's any plans in the near future to expand this? I'm sure I can't be the only one that feels this.

I know there's capacity limitations, and you're saving space to add features.. but if you're only using an overall oxygen sensor (one bank) 32x32x8 LTFT.. It'd take up the same space on the ECU as two banks of 16x16x4.
Seems like there's another banks worth of cells that are sitting in the background being unused?
Reckon it'd be wicked to get a full base fuel map of learning for "one bank" and drop back to 16x16x4 if you used dual bank learning.

Probably the highest thing on my wish list.

16x16x4 is 1024 cells
32x32x8 is 8192 cells

Even when you count the "missing" second bank, you're still 1/4 the space requirement of a 32x32x8 table.

While in the grand scheme it's not a HUGE amount of actual data difference, it would take 4x the amount of memory.

Good point, even 32x32x4 is 4000 odd cells, hadn't considered the exponential increase.
Still would be Lovley, I'd still take 32x32x2 over two banks of 16x16x4 if there was no space to spare.

Other thing that'd help would be celing values for a bunch of tables..
"Do not apply learning if you're X away from nearest cell"

Knock advance learning (additive for example) if you set the first row to 2000 it'll apply that learned value to everything 2000 and below. Even if it's only knocking at 2050RPM.
Or if your fuel learning table starts at 30kpa and under coasting or light throttle high rpm you're sitting at 20kpa, it applys learning to your 30kpa cell.

Having a value on the axis set page saying ceiling of ___75___RPM or ___20___kpa (or whatever unit you're using for that axis) would help.

I do hear ya! I have been asking for this myself for a long time. At least 16x16x8 as a minimum would help.

Need to bring some brownies down to the engineering guys, might push 32x32x8 up the priority list a little lol.
Worked on American Dad :P... Wouldn't suggest flicking your underwear at them though lol..

This would be nice!

For now I don't know about you, but I make my base fuel table and LTT tables both matching 16x16. That way it's making adjustments in the exact same place.
