Warning trigger using multiple parameters

Postby GroupA » Mon Mar 11, 2013 1:01 am

A DPO that will trigger if ANY of multiple conditions are met.
Nice to have one alert connected to a buzzer and light to pull over or shutdown before catastrophic results instead of using multiple outputs.

Maybe something along the lines of...

Boost = greater than
RPM = greater than
Engine Temp = greater than
Air Temp = greater than
AVI 1 = voltage greater than or less than
AVI 2 = voltage greater than or less than

You could initiate an engine shutdown or power reduction based on pretty much any of those parameters already.

So would there be any need for the warning light too ?

A single warning light hooked up to multiple parameters would just confuse, as the light would light up, and you wouldnt know exactly why it had lit up.

I see your point, but nice to be alerted to check your gauges at the time when something aint right.

I agree warning lights are easier to spot. But a single warning light for multiple reasons makes no sense

A good and easy to read dashboard is a great thing. The likes of a modern colour OLED display with graphical gauges or other easy visual instrumentation would probably do the job, some of them may allow alarms based on various inputs which would also be very visible.

Much better than a plain bland LCD type display of most race dashes.

Has anyone figured out how to trigger an output if an error / alert / warning condition exists? A buzzer even within ECU mgr would be great as sometimes the blinking red for a small gauge can be easily overlooked on a page full of sensors when busy doing something else.

When this option is enabled the current DPO will be triggered if a sensor goes out of normal value etc.
