Replacing my ancient Haltech on a 5-cyl Turbo

Postby QuantumProject » Thu May 11, 2006 8:42 am

I have a 1987 VW Turbo Quantum with an Audi 5-cyl turbo engine. The current Haltech F3 is dying. I want to replace both the EFI and ignition management with a new Haltech ECU. Can I plug an E6X into the existing wiring for the F3? If not, can I use a terminated loom kit with the 5-cyl, or do I need the flying lead kit? Any and all advice I can get would be appreciated.

The terminated harnesses for the E6X are available for an additional cost over the flying lead kit, i am not aware if there is a terminated option for the E8/E11, but usually that termination isnt matched to a specific vehicle, its just all the connectors done on the harnesses and heat shrink tubing on the wires. For your 5 cylinder i would suggest the E8, or if you are on a budget, the E6X, but im not sure on the proceedure for 5 cyl engines.

Contact haltech directly for info from them on it.
