Knock detection

Postby FILIN_D on Tue Feb 09, 2010 8:54 am

Hi guys,

I want to try Platinum Sport 2000 in Evo9. Has it knock control like AEM? Please let me know.

Thanks

Dima

No. I would not base my ECU choice on Knock control however unless I was looking at systems that will individually trim cylinders based on knock and cost significantly more. Overall trim to avoid knock is called a proper tune :D

If you output a 0-5V from an external knock monitor/controller then yes you can log that voltage in an AVI.

Pro Series at this stage are only suitable for the applications Haltech Supply them for, so no sorry.

Filin.
There's a 'Pro' version in the works for the EVO9. If you can wait it will have full knock control etc. Don't hold you breath though because there's no release date or any info as to when it will happpen.

Thank you.

Did you use this unit earlier?
May I use output signal of Motec knock detection(for example) with input Haltech signals in Engine protection to have knock control? What you think?

There is no timeframe for Knock control being implemented in the Haltech, and the Motec SKM outputs on CAN line from memory. Had a pre-release one can't quite remember if it had 0-5V also but probably not, being Motec. I would check out the J&S one too.
