PS 500 - Fuel Cut at 1500 RPM, Injector Pulse Error

Postby Ryan95i4 » Sun Aug 20, 2017 5:48 am

I have a '73 Datsun 240Z with a L28ET swap. I've had the Platinum Sprint 500 in the car for several years and it has been trouble free more or less during that time.

Today I went to start the car and the car ran rough and would not rev over 1500rpm.

A quick datalog should injectors being cut at 1500 rpm and Injector Pulse Error Count increasing each time.

A little more digging and i found injectors 1 and 6 are not firing. These two are being driven off the same injector driver. All injectors measure 16.9-17.1 ohms, and if i switch the plugs around, 1 and 6 will fire on a different driver.

Is there a way to test the ECU for a bad injector driver?

Timing is dead on and Trigger appears to be logging normal. The car had been running fine. It has been parked for a couple weeks, but that is typical and never been an issue before. This issue was present immediately today and is brand new. No changes on the car since it was driven last.

Thanks,

You can use a noid light to see if your injector output or harness has an issue.

Exactly, but it does sound like a dead driver. Kind of rare to actually kill an injector driver though, as it is normally the protection system that shuts it down before it can damage it.

Thanks, I haven't been able to work on the car much between travel and dealing with Hurricane Irma.

I'll check the output with a noid light, but if the problem is indeed the injector driver, is there a way to have it repaired or am I forced to buy a new ECU?

Thanks,

They can be repaired. Just send it back with the return form downloadable from our website in the Contact section.
