Signal Ground resistance 27 ohms

Postby kn91lx » Fri Apr 06, 2018 12:47 pm

Diagnosing an issue here with an Elite 2500. It seems to be noise on the crank trigger signal. Triggers a P0373 (engine position error) with the crank signal filter level on 1 also a 4: home count error & will not fire.
Engine will fire but run rough on filter level 2.
With filter level on 3 it will run with no error codes but sounds like a misfire when reving.

I checked the shielding to ground on the crank trigger harness with the key off and it is less than 1 ohm. With the key on it is 27 ohms to ground. Does this sound correct? I would think regardless of key on or off it should be less than 1 ohm.

On the harness diagram the shielding ground is provided by B15.

Check your wiring to be sure that signal ground and power ground do not have continuity with the ECU unplugged.

I will check that tonight Matthew, thank you for the reply.

I was able to get the engine to fire with the filters on 0 by adjusting the trigger voltage map. It simply would not run on the base map (trigger voltage) that I was using.

I have not tried to drive the car yet so I’m not sure what to expect when revving it.

I will check signal and power ground for continuity tonight for ha-ha’s. just curious, if the battery and chassis are grounded together wouldn’t the signal ground and power ground have continuity?

Exactly. There should be no continuity between them with the ECU unplugged.
