Elite 950 GM 4 wire IAC help

Postby Makeleletius » Mon Sep 10, 2018 9:40 pm

Hello i just replaced haltech e6gm to elite 950 in my 89 camaro 350 TPI. Having hard time understanding how to wire the IAC.
The IAC has 4 wires and as i understand 2 for each coil:
Coil A high
Coil A low
Coil B high
Coil B low

The ESP tells me to connect 2 wires to the IAC:
DPO 2 Idle control main
DPO 3 Idle control slave

Someone please help me to understand how am i supposed to wire this.

Under features, be sure stepper is selected for Idle Control. Wiring should show the 4 wires.
Take a look at the wiring diagram, it shows the 4 wires for stepper idle valve.

950 does control stepper motors. Only 2 and 3 pin PWM idle valves are supported on single connector ECUs.

I think it would be a great idea to offer a separate idle control box for a stepper IAC that works with the elite 550-950 models.

Or add a feature to control a board like this https://www.pololu.com/product/2133

So many throttle bodies available with the GM 4 wire IAC valve built in.

We do. Its called an Elite 1000/1500/2000/2500 :D

These all support stepper motors. Single connector ECUs do not. We can add it but it makes it more expensive and you need more ECU pins, so you pretty much end up with the higher spec ECU anyway.

I just installed an Elite 1000 for this reason but it's a major step up in price and you're paying for a whole bunch of extras you just don't need.
Even microsquirt have a add on box that gives them stepper idle control for $60.
