ECU not found with new windows 10 update.

Postby onfire » Mon Nov 14, 2016 6:12 am

Tried to uninstall the update but 10 is blocking uninstall.

Installed the new 2.21 and new drivers but it still is no ECU found.

Any ideas to fix it ?

The Windows 10 USB utility acknowledges Haltech when it is plugged in. Also acknowledges when it is unplugged. Computer dongs as it should also when plugged/unplugged.

10 claims the USB / Haltech is functioning.

Tried running it as Admin? I have had this issue after a Win10 Anniversary Update

Ran it as Admin. Devices shows Haltech is recognized and working. Tried back compatible to Win8 and XP. Still No ECU found.

I could try uninstalling ESP and reinstalling as a last effort ????

In Device Manager it should show up in Ports as USB Serial Port.

In ESP, Tools/Options/Communications do you have it set to Auto? You can try telling it to manually use a COM port that matches with the COM port the driver is using.

When I plug in the USB with the key on, Devices does not show any ports. It appears under USB as USB serial converter. Com is set to Auto. Never a problem until the Win10 Auto Update. I hate Win10

Did verify it is not an ECU problem with an old junked XP laptop that will connect.

Suggestions ?

Are you sure there is a "Ports" under Device Manager in Windows10 ? It's not in mine.

FINALLY fixed it. The VCP box in the USB drivers has to be checked "on" for the FTDI to work with USB 3.0

The auto update must have unchecked that box.

Auto update is now disabled. POS !
