Re: Fuel Pressure Sensor Diagnostics

It seems to me you would take a quick log and from idle, smash the gas hard and note the difference in manifold and fuel pressures. Then do the same thing under boost when you let off quickly. The fuel pressure system will have a mechanical delay. I think that's what this is compensating for.

Re: Baro Correction

VE is a tricky subject. The VE improvements in an engine come from the idea that at a given manifold pressure achievable at both low and high altitudes , there is less exhaust backpressure at high altitudes, thereby allowing for better VE. Turbos don't have this quite as much as the turbine is radic...

Re: firmware 2.20 and new esp data log

Sounds pretty legit. Have you sent an email to haltech support?

Is there anybody else that has experienced this?

Re: firmware 2.20 and new esp data log

Does it otherwise maintain the connection to the ECU over a long period of time?

Re: firmware 2.20 and new esp data log

This is only with the internal logger? Have you made sure your log is empty, then re-record a new log and try it again?

Re: Haltech elite ESP 2.00.6 release

The reason I ask is 2.6.1 was released recently as a bug fix version for 2.6.0. While it doesn't specify the bugs it fixed, this could be one of them.

Re: Haltech elite ESP 2.00.6 release

I'm assuming you were using 2.6.1 and not 2.6.0.

Re: Haltech elite ESP 2.00.6 release

The release notes have a few comments about things that might be different like global fuel % that might require a small retune. It looks like they made a lot of changes to the trigger code too. Definitely pay attention to the release notes. Anecdotally, mine upgraded without any issues running the ...

Re: Q about ION Sensing for knock control - and AWD control

I actually doubt you can simply plug in an analog output to the knock input. I suspect Haltech is using something like the Intersil HIP9011 or Texas Instruments TPIC8101. These ICs are relatively simple to use. During the "knock window", you latch the chip and it integrates the signal seen...

Re: Q about ION Sensing for knock control - and AWD control

Impressive. I'm not sure I would want to bother with aftermarket coils as they might be changed in a fundamental way. I might want to rethink the coils I'm using. Do you have the part numbers here? One other thing - I'm not sure how you would get this without some involved changes to the EMS softwar...

Re: Q about ION Sensing for knock control - and AWD control

Yes I too saw that the design of the coil is important. It's acting as an excessively strong low-pass filter. Most coils don't expose the ground side of the secondary independent from the primary like that. Unless I want to use those specific coils, this is looking very difficult to integrate to rea...

Re: Q about ION Sensing for knock control - and AWD control

This is exciting! What's the nature of the knock signal output to the ECU? Do you think this mitsu module could be used on other coils or does it require specific coil wiring, as I surmised in my original post?

Re: Q about ION Sensing for knock control - and AWD control

I played with this about 10 years back without much success. Issues I had were the diode in the circuit has to be very high voltage. I wound up stringing 4 avalanche diodes together in series, but this attenuated my signal. As the secondary coil voltage gets higher with aftermarket, powerful ignitio...

Re: Cam Home physical location

I just realized why the 60 tooth wheel is so popular. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 are all even factors. What I can't figure out is why this is such a big deal when I can do things like individual cylinder timing trim.
