Injector fuse blows at 4500 rpm

Postby toyroll27 » Thu Jul 14, 2016 6:11 am

I have a haltech e6x on a 3sgte 4cy turbo .
Ran fine up until a few days ago. When I hit 4500rpm either in boost or slowly increasing rpm in gear, engine sputters at about 4100 rpm. During sputtering A/F reads as it should in boost (11.5:1), but it sputters. If I keep on throttle it will go past 4500 rpm, then blows the injector 15 amp fuse. If I let off, keeps running.
Free revving out of gear revs fine to redline set at 7800
Setup waste spark on 4 ls7 coils set at 2.6 ms
550cc injectors fresh flowed n rebuilt low imp. 2.3
Standard trigger setup 60-2
7psi boost
Ngk 7 series plugs gap .24
Any info advice appreciated.

It's a gen 2. Using motronic wheel in front of crank pulley. I problem has been solved!
It was on 4Amp setting for injectors, 8Amp setting cured the sputtering and fuse blowing.

Well changing from 4A to 8A setting helped the sputtering, but unfortunately I'm still blowing fuses. Any ideas?

Excessive current draw or random short circuit from faulty wiring harness or electrical component. That's where my mind is going for now.

HI thanks for suggestion. I've checked the wiring to injectors for shorts and scuffs and they check out. Injectors all meter out to about 2.2 to 2.3.. only thing I've really changed besides the injector setting is the injector angle .

Maybe a 20amp fuse?

 I = V/R .... 14 Volts /2.2 Ohms = 6.363 Amps draw per injector approximately. If your engine is configured on semi or batch fire injection mode you double the result because two injectors are triggered simultaneously so we end up with 12.727 Amps.Pretty close to your 15 Amp fuse.
