How to wire LS1/2/truck coils directly?

Postby RMS-138 » Sun Apr 15, 2012 11:38 am

Ok, I'm looking to simplify my wiring and have all engine components separate. Car is a FC RX7. I bought the car running on the E6X and whoever wired it had pins 34,35 and 36 (IIRC) tapped into the chassis harness under the dash. I'd like to run the coil wiring straight from the ECU to the coils, using LS1, 2 or truck coils. I have a diagram for the coil wiring (as well as dwell time [constant period??) but need to know exactly how to wire the J7 pins and also need to know the settings for 'ignition setup'.

I searched as best as I could but it's difficult since the search will not accept "common words". Any help is definitely appreciated!

From the Haltech web site: -
http://www.haltech.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/LS1-COIL-CONNECTOR.pdf
J7 pin C[D, E, F], Light Green[White/Black, Blue, Blue/Yellow] IGNITION #1[2, 3, 4] goes to LS1 coil 1[2, 3, 4] pin C.
J7 pin B, Black GROUND goes to LS1 pins A and B all coils.
12V + wired to LS1 pin D, all coils.
Not familiar with how many coils an RX engine needs but I'm guessing 2?
LS1 coils are Output Type: Constant Charge, Coil Charge Time: 5ms, Spark Output Edge: Falling.
All of this has been documented before but as you say, finding it is a bit of a pain

Hope this helps.
Nissanman, just trying to help.....

Thank you for the help and understanding my 'search pain'! :D

Here's what I gathered for a wasted spark setup, can anyone confirm this is right?...

Disclaimer; I made this on ms paint, not sure if correct

Here's where I got the notion that pin B might go to the ECU... C:\Users\Robbie\Desktop\ls1coil.gif

Also, would I be better off running 'sequential' spark on a rotary or wasted? Not sure what most do as I'm new to these Wankel things...

I am new to Haltech, trying to help a friend set up his rx7 with ls1 coils. I need help with wiring the coils. I understand that the J7 wiring loom should be used but how exactly one connect the 4 coils, what wire goes where. Please help!
