zf8HP transmission control!

Postby Rmr298 » Sat Jul 06, 2019 12:14 pm

Is Haltech developing the 8 speed transmission control? There are more than 50 vehicles that use this transmission, anything from Audi, BMW, and even the new Toyota supra use a variation of this trans. If I'm not mistaking Haltech already supports the older version (zf6hp) on the barra plug and play ECU's so I'm hoping it isn't to much work to have the Elite 1500/2500 have this feature.

No intention unless there is a high volume vehicle that uses it and there is enough demand here for a standalone ECU to control it. At the moment we now have 1x request. :D
All we do with the 6 speed is provide the data it needs to control its own TCM. We do not control the box itself. But for this vehicle there is a large demand in the market for it so it was financially viable.

+1 Looking at this swap as well for myself and customers. High torque capacity, quick shift times, fairly inexpensive and available here in the US at least seems like a winner to me.

+1 Also keen for Haltech support on this box. Currently the only aftermarket solution is the HTG GCU which replaces the factory TCU in the transmission. I've got a 8HP70 mated to my 2JZ in my Lexus IS300, and I'll be buying a Haltech ECU in the near future. Would be great if I didn't have to buy the HTG too
