Good Morning,
I've joined the forum looking for as much help as assistance as I can in regarding to suggestions and opinions on setting up my 205 GTi Project on a full standard alone with all the plugs in etc required.
The car I'm fulling rebuilding with a full nut and bolt restoration but, I'm looking to bring all the electronic up to spec. So, I've been looking at PMU, Standalones etc.
The engine, which I'm keeping original (1.6 8v XU engine) is currently being built with fast road cams, high compression pistons, jenvey throttle bodies, richard longman exhaust, ported polished heads etc. I'm also looking to run and build a complete new engine loom. Looking to upgrade the ignition system from the original dizzy cap setup. So yeah, I'm looking to maximise on the potential of the car.
I'm was looking into running the nexus r5 for the simplicity but, I'm willing to listen other options.
Any advice and input would be appreciated.
Thank you in advance.,

If you're looking for simplicity the R5 isn't exactly that, in terms of functions and being able to utilize it to its full potential.., it's more
of a VCU (Vehicle Control Unit) then just a ECU (Engine Control Unit).
90s cars don't have much electronics.., a R5 would be overkill for a Street car.
Depending on you plans you might be fine with the Elite 750..,i choose the Elite 1500 (i have a 90s Opel with Bosch Motronic),
specifically to 'grow into'. You can do DBW (which makes cruise control easier), add a knock sensor and a bunch of other sensors.
Even if you think you'll never need all inputs/outputs... You will. I did.

You can check out the buyers guide, it may clear things up.

Also check the NSP Software (tuning softeware), it is free to download.

Hope this helps.
