Replacing my ancient Haltech on a 5-cyl Turbo

I have a 1987 VW Turbo Quantum with an Audi 5-cyl turbo engine. The current Haltech F3 is dying. I want to replace both the EFI and ignition management with a new Haltech ECU. Can I plug an E6X into the existing wiring for the F3? If not, can I use a terminated loom kit with the 5-cyl, or do I need the flying lead kit? Any and all advice I can get would be appreciated.
