PS1000 on ZX-6R with custom trigger base timing

Postby Brick St » Sun Aug 01, 2021 10:37 am

Hi all! First post but I’ve been using Haltechs for years. This is the first one I’ve installed that I just can’t get working.

Car is a tube framed open wheeled race car using a 2006 Kawasaki ZX-6RR engine with a PS1000 that I built a custom 8 tooth trigger wheel for and the stock home trigger. Cumulative counter shows a consistent 16 counts per home signal when cranking. My issue is setting base timing. When trying to get it locked at zero and confirming with a timing light, it bounces all around.

I have confirmed it has spark and fuel. When cranking it just stumbles.

With timing locked at 0 deg advance and a timing light, the mark bounces around all over the place and I can’t sort out why that’s happening.

Settings are a general multitooth trigger wheel, reluctor sensors, no filter, falling edge trigger and home.

Any thoughts on why it doesn’t consistently show TDC when timing is locked at 0 deg advance?

Thanks for any advice!
