Two part question DBW, ECU

Postby Datspimpin » Mon Jan 23, 2023 9:24 am

Hi fellas, I have an elite 1500 in my Datsun 510 with S13 black top sr20det. I have my DBW set working, But I have a warning light thats due to the brake switch not being wired in. In my car the only brake switch that I know of is the one thats directly mounted on the brake lever. Is this switch the one I need to wire in to the ECU? Also where exactly do I wire that switch too? In my wiring specialties harness there was no dedicated wire that said brake switch. Please advice. Second question, After you download your base map to the ECU what should the lights look like on the ECU? Mine shows green which is for NSP which i'm using but the other led is not let up. I though it supposed to light up blue or something when connected. Not sure if i'm having a connection issue here. Please advice. Thanks in advance

The brake switch is just a saftey feature for DBW. It can limit the amount of throttle you can have when the brake is pressed just in case something goes wrong with the pedal and you're not actually trying to accelerate (think toyota un-intended acceleration problems).

The brake switch on the pedal is the right one, it would be wired into one of your ECU's inputs.
