Configuring DPO for speedo output

Postby killerfrogg3 » Tue May 05, 2020 12:34 pm

Light background. Full engine swap in an '84 pontiac Fiero.
I am keeping the original gauges, and have a converter built and functional already with my Elite 1500 to drive the factory speedo.
Using a DPO as a generic output (from an IO expansion module). Output is frequency with a fixed 50% duty cycle. Table, setup to match road speed as calculated by the ECU with the appropriate frequency the speedo wants to see for a given road speed.

So far, it all works as expected with one hitch, the table for the output only allows me to go down to 1hz. So with the car not moving and ECU on, it still sends speed signal to the dash, though very slow.
I feel like I might be missing something simple to have it simply turn off or go to 0hz at 0mph.
In the end it is not that big of an issue if this is how things have to stay, but if I can I would like it have the speedo not be twitching at me wile the car is not moving.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
