No battery warning on IC-7

Postby Pauly383 » Thu Oct 14, 2021 7:44 pm

Hi team, when turning ignition key to on, the battery icon on the IC-7 does not light. When the car is started, the alternator is not charging the battery. I have tried with 2 known working alternators, same result.

Car is a 1991 VQ 383 V8 Statesman with a traditional b-post (not 1-wire) alternator, running a Platinum Sport ECU. The battery warning light worked with the same ECU and the factory dash, and the battery would also charge. I was wondering is there anything special I need to do to get this working on the IC-7?

Many thanks in advance.

Paul.

Ok, so this is sorted. To excite the alternator, a resistor was required (I chose 470ohm) between the alternator excite wire and ignition.

Thanks to Luke at Haltech Support for the advice.
